Chestnut Farm

A visit to a beautiful garden with a cup of tea and a delicious slice of cake is the perfect day out for Mothering Sunday and the National Gardens Scheme in Norfolk has two appetising gardens to visit on Sunday March 6th.

At Chestnut Farm in West Beckham NR25 6NX, there are over 80 varieties of snowdrops to admire and plenty of other late winter flowers with some heavenly scented shrubs. Owners John and Judy McNeil Wilson have over 50 years of gardening expertise and are always keen to share their knowledge with visitors.

On Sunday  6th  March we are delighted that the president of The Royal Horticultural Society, Sir Nicholas Bacon has offered to open his garden at Raveningham Hall, Raveningham near Norwich NR14 6NS. There will be plenty of early flowering bulbs on display, a variety of shrubs and trees and a traditional walled garden. Both of these gardens are open from 11 to 4pm, admission is £5 with children free and home-made teas available.

George Plumptre, Chief Executive of the National Gardens Scheme says: ‘A visit to an NGS garden is the perfect treat for Mothering Sunday. Gardens are very much places for families, where everyone can relax and enjoy each other’s company in a beautiful, stress-free setting, with the added bonus of a homemade tea. We are looking to entertain many visitors who will have the double benefit of a great day out, and the chance to contribute to very good causes.’
