WESTLETON WILD FLOWER FESTIVAL 2015
IN ST PETER’S CHURCH
31st July to 3rd August
PLUS EXHIBITION IN THE VILLAGE HALL
‘Alice in Wonderland & Through The Looking Glass’
June 2015 is the 150th anniversary of the publication of the first edition of Lewis Carrolls ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Ever since that date the story, and its follow up Through the Looking Glass have delighted readers. This year’s wonderful wild flower festival in Westleton Church takes Wonderland as its theme. Great care is taken with the gathering of these wild flowers, and no threatened species are used in the displays.
This year’s exhibition in the Village Hall features displays and crafts by local groups. These include the Quilters Group, Westleton Barrel Fair, Village archives, and some of the other bodies that are active locally.
In addition Westleton Gardeners have been working all year to be able to offer a very wide range of garden plants for sale at their display stand in the Village Hall, and all at very reasonable prices. This is always a busy area in the Hall.
There will be demonstrators showing their skills each day. On Friday Lorna Turner will be showing Yarn Crafts, including spinning, and on Saturday the expert Great Glemham group, Ragtime Ruggers, will be displaying the technique and skills involved in making a range of rugs made from rags. On Sunday, Sharon McMullin will be demonstrating her artistry with stained and decorative glass, both mouth blown and machine made and Chrissie Davies will be showing her unusual ability to produce sculpture from recycled glass. On Monday Irené Lucas will be showing and creating her Unique Ceramics. All the demonstrators will have a range of their work on show and some of it will be for sale.
Wonderful home-made refreshments will be on sale throughout each day in the Village Hall. The GRAND DRAW will take place at 4 p.m. on the Monday, with £100 first prize and many, many others!
