You may think the oft-told tales of Arabian Nights are familiar, but writer Neil Duffield, has taken them, shaken them and delivered them in a fresh and exciting way. With original music, this is going to be a great way to kick off the Easter holidays.

Matthew Townshend Productions presents Noel & Gertie; an entertainment devised by Sheridan Morley with the words and music of Noël Coward.

Lucky then that the reviews for mtp’s new production of Noel & Gertie, based on the playwright’s 54-year friendship with Gertrude Lawrence, have met with admiration, acclaim and applause.
The love story, devised by Sheridan Morley from the couple’s letters and diaries, is told with all ‘the Master’s’ flair and wit.
Featuring songs and scenes from Privates Lives and Blithe Spirit, this beautifully set and immaculately executed production by Matthew Townshend, takes a perfectly-orchestrated trip down memory lane. A showcase of the affectionate, complex and tempestuous relationship of two of the best-loved performers of the Twentieth century.

The Witch and her cat are travelling on their broomstick when they pick up some hitch-hikers – a friendly dog, a beautiful green bird and a crazy frog. But this broomstick’s not meant for five and – CRACK – it snaps in two… just as the hungry dragon appears!

An audience favourite since its first performance in 1603, As You Like It is among Shakespeare’s best-loved comedies. An idyllic country setting provides the backdrop for this romantic adventure, as Rosalind and Orlando’s famous courtship is played out amidst the turmoil of political rivalry, mistaken identity and exile in the Forest of Arden.
The rules of romance are discarded and traditional gender roles are abandoned as Rosalind, disguised as the boy Ganymede, attempts to ‘cure’ Orlando of his lovesickness. Including some of the Bard’s most glorious wordplay and oft-quoted speeches, including ‘all the world’s a stage’, As You Like It is a glorious romp in the woods!

In this affectionate satire of his home town, Thomas Shadwell throws a pair of London sparks and a French pretender into the world of Bury St Edmunds. A pretentious female fop and her mother, a handful of gloriously idiotic local wags and a young woman in disguise as a boy to escape the will of her father – all dance headlong into chaos. All the fun of the fair in Bury indeed!
Thomas Shadwell was born at Stanton Hall, Norfolk in 1642. Educated at Bury St Edmunds School and at Caius College, Cambridge, he was made Poet Laureate in 1688 and wrote Bury Fair the following year.
