Head to Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden for Wing it Week, from Saturday, May 27 to Sunday, June 4, daily from 10am to 5pm. Use the spotter sheet to find all things fluttery in the garden to win a small prize.

Then on Wednesday 31 May, from 11am to 3pm, meet Wild Touch wildlife rescue from Rollesby, who rescue and rehabilitate wild and exotic creatures. See some of their animals and get closer to nature, including holding a barn owl and playing with a raven.

Garden entry is adult £6.75, concessions £6.15, child £3.85 (under 5 free).

On Saturday, June 3, the special boat trip to St Benet’s Abbey, with a 45 minute guided tour of the abbey, begins and runs on Saturdays to the end of September. The boat trip leaves Fairhaven Garden’s staithe at 2.15pm, returning at 4.30pm. Please note this trip is not suitable for wheelchair users due to the uneven ground at the abbey. Wing it Week

The Guided Canoe Trail, with Free Spirit Canoe Tours, begins for the summer season on Sunday, June 4, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm and 3pm to 4pm. The tours run on Sundays to September 23 and on Thursdays from July 27 to August 31. No experience is necessary and life jackets and buoyancy aids are supplied. Trails cost £18 adult, £12.50 child 10-16 and £9.50 child 5-9 (includes garden entry). Booking is advisable, t. 01603 270449.

Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden is owned by the Fairhaven Garden Trust, whose key objectives are to care for the garden so that it can be enjoyed by this and future generations and to provide access for all.

Fairhaven is open daily all year from 10am to 5pm (closed Christmas Day), and on Wednesdays until 9pm from May to the end of August. Free entry to tearoom, gift shop and plant sales.

There is wheelchair access throughout the garden, including a Sensory Garden and an accessible boat for trips on the broad from April to October (additional charge). Visitors requiring special facilities are advised to telephone in advance, mobility scooters available.

Dogs are welcome on leads; small charge to cover poop scoop.
