Long Melford Library is holding a poetry competition with the best entries to be published in a special book which will go on sale in the library later in the year.

Anyone can enter their poem and there are two categories for under 16s and over 16s. The closing date for entries is 4 September and entry forms are available from the library. It’s 50p to enter with all proceeds going to the Friends of Long Melford Library. The book of selected poems is due to be published and available to buy in the library in time for Christmas.

Clare Library is also holding a scrabble tournament over the next month. The overall winner will receive a trophy, £10 book token and a token for a free sound and vision loan from the library.

Anyone wishing to enter will need to register with the library by 15 September by dropping into the library in the Guild Hall in Clare or calling 01787 277702. There is a £2.50 entry fee.
