A new season of Saturday coffee-time recitals at Wymondham Abbey kicks off on Saturday, May 21, at 11am, with Norfolk organist Prue Goldsmith.
Prue studied with David Dunnett and plays regularly at a number of churches, including St Thomas Heigham, the Octagon and St Nicholas, North Walsham.
Prue will be playing a selection of pieces ranging from Suite du Deuxième Ton by the seventeenth century French composer Clérambault right up to Englands Glory by Nigel Ogden. On the way shell include music by Bach, Elgar, Reger and others.
Wymondham Abbeys magnificent 1793 James Davies organ is a highly regarded instrument of national importance, and the recitals allow it to be heard in all its glory. The church also uses a video system to display the organists skills, greatly enhancing the experience.
The recitals are mainly held on the third Saturday of the month the same day that the Farmers Market is in town. Coffee is available from 10.30am and the music starts at 11am. No tickets are required there is a collection at the end to raise funds for the Abbey.
