Your instructor Adam Stanford specialises in low level aerial photography, using telescopic masts and kites and now also Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (or drones). This is a great opportunity to see them in action and learn the basics!

And that’s not all, if you can stay with us into the evening Adam will be taking us on a ‘virtual archaeology safari’ of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) where he has been working recently, followed by dinner at 8:00pm.

This is a truly fantastic opportunity for anyone with an interest in archaeology and photography to learn some specialist skills that can be used ‘just for fun’ or, for professional archaeology fieldwork photography. Set amongst the beautiful ruins of Leiston Abbey, it really is a unique experience that’s not to be missed!

It’s open to everyone (beginners to more advanced photographers).

The session includes how to take great photos of ruins and artefacts, and then… how to turn those photos into 3D images that can be shared online!
It covers the basics of photogrammetry – a skill that’s highly relevant at the moment, you’ll have seen it in use in high-profile news stories like Project Mosul, which is reconstructing artworks damaged by IS.
It’s a really unique opportunity for anyone who loves archaeology and / or photography to get to grips with this up and coming technique  which can be used to produce 3D models of anything from artefacts, to people, to entire landscapes!
There’ll also be a demonstration of how to use drones for aerial photography and masterclass attendees can stay on for dinner and a free lecture – a ‘virtual archaeology safari’ of Easter Island.
