DigVentures & Aerial-Cam Ltd Present an Archaeology Photography Masterclass
Calling all Suffolk camera buffs! Learn how to take great photos of artefacts and ruins, and then turn your 2D picture into a 3D wonder!
On 23rd July archaeologist and specialist photographer Adam Stanford is providing training on essential archaeology photography skills, including an introduction to the use of drones and 3D imaging!
Whether you’re an amateur enthusiast or an advanced photographer, this one day training session in photography for archaeology has something for everyone! What’s more, it’s set in some of Suffolk’s most impressive monastic ruins, providing you with the perfect opportunity to test out your newly developed skills.
Tuition takes the form of a series of discussion, demonstrations and practical sessions, starting with the fundamentals of photography and camera equipment, before advancing to the specific skills needed to photograph artefacts, buildings and stratigraphy for recording purposes.
You’ll learn the best lighting techniques for photographing difficult subjects, like inscriptions, tiny details and high contrast situations, as well as delving into advanced post capture processing, including how to turn you 2D picture in to a 3D wonder!
Your instructor Adam Stanford specialises in low level aerial photography, using telescopic masts and kites and now also Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (or drones). This is a great opportunity to see them in action and learn the basics!
And that’s not all, if you can stay with us into the evening Adam will be taking us on a ‘virtual archaeology safari’ of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) where he has been working recently, followed by dinner at 8:00pm.
This is a truly fantastic opportunity for anyone with an interest in archaeology and photography to learn some specialist skills that can be used ‘just for fun’ or, for professional archaeology fieldwork photography. Set amongst the beautiful ruins of Leiston Abbey, it really is a unique experience that’s not to be missed!
3D Photography Masterclass at Leiston Abbey in Suffolk on 23rd July 2015.
It’s open to everyone (beginners to more advanced photographers).
