A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Roughcast will be performing A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Beccles Public Hall for one night only on Thursday 11th July.

A company that has delighted audiences for two decades with productions of classic and Shakespearian plays will return to Beccles on Thursday 11th July.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be Roughcast’s 15th  Shakespeare play and ninth summer tours, and the cast will be stopping at Beccles Public Hall for one night only on July 11th before they set off on the second leg of their third European tour.

With a focus on fast-paced and clear story-telling, Roughcast’s summer Shakespeare comedies have become a regular fixture in many a theatre-lover’s diary.

Set in an enchanted forest with warring fairies, sparring lovers and a group of enthusiastic amateur actors who are putting on a play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the perfect entertainment for a July evening.

Demetrius and Lysander love Hermia. Hermia loves Lysander, but her father is about to force her to marry Demetrius – much to her horror. But no one loves poor Helena, though her heart belongs to Demetrius.

When Hermia and Lysander elope into the forest, all four young lovers get caught in the crossfire of a battle between Oberon and Titania, the king and queen of the fairy world.

Lesley Cox, Events Co-ordinator at the Hall said: “We are really excited to have Roughcast visit the hall and perform on our stage. They are such a talented company and perform some of the most celebrated plays.

“They have a really busy summer schedule ahead, which includes a trip across the channel, so the fact that there is time for a whistle stop appearance in Beccles is just fantastic.”

Tickets for the 7.30pm show are £10 for adults and £6 for students.
