Halesworth Library are holding some apple-based activities next week to celebrate their new garden and mural which is now open for customers to enjoy.

The activities are taking place on Wednesday 30th October from 2.30pm to 4.30pm and there will be children’s crafts – apple printing, apple people and making masks. There will also be apple-bobbing, pin-the-maggot-on-the-apple, refreshments and much more.

The event will also be a great opportunity to see the newly replanted and improved garden which the library has been working on with Eastfeast, Halesworth in Transition and Grow For It to develop. There is also an attractive new ‘bookshelf’ mural which has been painted in the library and a new mural outside on the garden wall.

Replanting Halesworth Library’s garden has been part of a project to use whatever small spaces might be around to plant vegetables, bright flowers, herbs and even fruit trees. There is a new bench for customers to use and part of the plot opposite the library now has raised vegetables (including pumpkins) and flower beds, thanks to Halesworth in Bloom and Halesworth in Transition working together with library staff and their families.

The library’s colourful bookshelf mural has been painted by branch assistant Meraylah Allwood and showcases ‘The Garden Library’ with illustrations including The Cherry Orchard, Food for Free, Meg’s Eggs, Cider with Rosie, The Magic Porridge Pot, and War and Peas.

Haleworth Libary are also hosting a professional photography session with local company Yours Personally on Friday 1 November. Yours Personally specialise in children and family portraits and will be offering their professional services with 24% of proceeds being donated to support Halesworth Library.

For more information on any of these activities or to book a slot for the photography, please call the library on 01986 875095.
