Amplify Theatre’s new comedy play ‘Bodily Functions and Where to Find Them’ is heading to the Maddermarket Theatre this month before taking on the renowned Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Brought to you by the co-director of last year’s sell-out smash hit ‘Good Vibes Only’ (4* Everything Theatre, 4* Three Weeks), ‘Bodily Functions and Where to Find Them’ is an eclectic collection of real stories and experiences. From peeing in public to dealing with bulimia, the play follows a Bridget Jones-esque narrator through first periods, awkward teenage crushes, failed interviews and the lives of those around her.
With tickets already flying off the shelves for its Edinburgh Fringe Festival run, the play first comes to the Norwich Maddermarket Theatre, Emmerson Studio on 18 and 19 July. “We are ecstatic to be holding our Edinburgh Fringe previews at the Maddermarket theatre,” says writer and director, Izzy Cutler. “As a Norwich theatre company, it just feels right to show this new material to the world for the first time in a well-loved Norwich theatre venue and we can’t wait to see the reaction of the audience.
“The play tackles some really important issues but does so with fast-paced energetic comedy and is performed brilliantly by a cast of three talented actors. This piece has been in development since last Christmas so to be getting it up on its feet and seen by an audience so soon is hugely exciting!”
‘Bodily Functions and Where to Find Them’ comes to the Maddermarket for three performances before heading north, with £5 tickets available for 1pm matinees on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 July, and an additional 7.30pm evening performance on Friday 19.
The play marks Amplify Theatre’s second production, after wowing audiences in Norwich earlier this year with double bill ‘Breathing Corpses and Tommy’, which tackled the stigma surrounding male suicide. Tickets for the Norwich previews are on sale now, and with all tickets only £5 each, this is not a deal you want to miss!
All tickets £5 Amplify Theatre is a Norwich based amateur theatre company started by UEA Drama graduate, Izzy Cutler. The company aims to use theatre to highlight political and social issues, battling through a haze of British awkwardness and emerging with unashamed expression.
