A renowned art collective is set to host an exhibition featuring more than 300 new artworks.

The 19th annual exhibition by Artworks will take place at the 14th century Blackthorpe Barn in Rougham, Suffolk.

Featuring the work of 30 artists, the exhibition will give viewers the chance to look at work produced by the group’s East Anglian members.

With each artist exhibiting around 10 new works of art, there will be more than 300 new works on display together with a pop-up shop which will host smaller artworks, paintings and cards. All works are for sale.

Chairman of Artworks, Gillian Crossley-Holland, said: “It’s our 19th annual exhibition this Autumn and it’s easy to be excited by such an achievement.

“This year, as well as the work of our Artworks members, we are welcoming many talented guest artists whose work will give the exhibition a completely new and exciting feel.”

A range of contemporary 2D and 3D work will be on show, from colourful abstract art to exquisite botanical illustrations and dramatic landscape paintings to heart-rending portraiture, robust ceramics and delicate figurative works, contemporary glass sculpture and intricate constructions.

Printmaker Janet French, who creates her works using materials gathered from woodlands, said: “I am excited to see the development in the work of the members and also the work of this year’s guest artists which brings a fresh dynamic to the exhibition.”

Elizabeth Cooke, a sculptor who works in steel, willow and stone, said: “I am looking forward to exhibiting with Artworks again, having last taken part in 2004. The exhibition has given me the opportunity to work on pieces thathave been whirling around in my head for quite a while.”

Sky Portrait finalist, Lyn Aylward, said: “Much of my work is autobiographical and in troubled times I find myself turning to my familiar paintbrushes and paints to make sense of hardship. I have never been afraid to portray difficult subjects in my work; therefore, my painting on show this year is deeply personal.”

Alfie Carpenter, a mixed media landscape artist from Suffolk, said: “I’m excited to share my visions at this year’s exhibition and to give my most recent work a chance to shine.”

The exhibition will be accompanied by a unique prize draw – the popular Mini Artworks – which features 30 original, specially-created artworks by exhibiting artists.

Tickets are £2 each and are available during the exhibition with proceeds supporting the Artworks’ Schools Programme and their charity for this year – Suffolk Refugee Support.

Entrance to the exhibition is free, there is ample parking and there will be a cafe serving drinks and home-made cakes during the show.

A number of demonstrations and presentations by the artists will also accompany the exhibition.

The exhibition is open from Saturday, September 15 until Sunday, September 30, 10am – 5pm daily at Blackthorpe Barn, Rougham, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP30 9HZ.
