Our Day Out

Following a successful taster session just before Christmas, and with funding from Breckland Council, Thetford is all set to pick up the beat with a series of fantastic free music making activities for older people throughout February and March.

The sessions form part of the ā€˜Our Day Outā€™ programme, an inclusive group for older people, aiming to engage participants in a programme of fun and stimulating music activities delivered by professional arts practitioners.

ā€˜Our Day Outā€™ particularly welcomes people living with early to mid-stage dementia and their carers, as well as other older people in the community who may feel isolated, or who are living with long term health conditions. The music-making afternoons are a great way of giving everyone a chance to experience and try new things and make new friends, in a safe and welcoming environment.

Provided through the arts and development charity, Creative Arts East, these enjoyable and interactive music-making afternoons will take place every second and fourth Friday from 2-4pm at Thetford Methodist Church, delivered by two professional music practitioners.

Our Day Out

ā€˜Our Day Outā€™ has been successfully running in the neighbouring areas of Attleborough, Dereham and Watton, and this latest new funding support from Breckland Council is enabling these new sessions to begin in Thetford. The activities are free and there is no need to book. Dates are: Friday 3rd and 17th February, and Friday 3rd and 17th March.

The ā€˜Our Day Outā€™ programme has received funding from Spirit of 2012, an independent trust established with Big Lottery funding, and Breckland Council, to provide opportunities for older people to engage with culture and creativity through participatory music activities.
