Beccles Public Hall March 2020

March Newsletter

Welcome to the March edition of our newsletter which is being sent out a bit earlier than usual. This is so that you have time to look at the events at the beginning of the month and book tickets if you wish.

Lots of people booked tickets to the two brilliant tribute bands which played here in February – ABBA: The Story enthralled the crowd with all their well-known songs and Counterfeit Quo had them rocking in the aisles as you can see:

Missed this? Then why not come along to Pure Queen: The Tribute Show to Queen and Freddie Mercury on Saturday 7th.  Queen’s classic hits are authentically reproduced and delivered with an explosive performance that will leave you rocking in your seats…guaranteed to blow your mind! Tickets are selling fast so book now!

Or for a completely different musical experience we have An Evening with Jack Ollett on Friday 27th.  Local lad Jack returns to the Hall to bring you his ultimate collection of West End favourites following the success of his previous sell out show. He will also be premiering his brand-new show “The Songs Of Michael Ball”.

We also have musical theatre with the popular youngsters of WLOG Rising Stars presenting Monty Python’s SPAMALOT. Lovingly ripped off from the classic film ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’, SPAMALOT is a riotous musical comedy full of misfit knights, killer rabbits and flatulent Frenchmen. Join King Arthur as he travels with his hapless Knights of the Round Table on a divine mission to locate the elusive Holy Grail – with uproarious consequences. Funnier than the Black Death! The show is on from Wednesday 18th – Saturday 21st and should not be missed.

On to more serious drama, we have fEAST Theatre presenting a play set in Norwich. ‘The Canada Boys’ is set in 1912 and is based on the true story of a group of workers at J & J Colman. This funny, sad and thought-provoking play examines the relationship between a progressive company and its workers before the First World War encompassing ambition, love, duty, family and mustard. The date for your diary is Thursday 26th.

The Thursday afternoon film on the 12th is ‘Mrs Lowry and Son’ starring Vanessa Redgrave and Timothy Spall. The film is a portrait of the artist LS Lowry and his relationship with his mother, who tries to dissuade him from pursuing his passion.

Continuing throughout the month on Thursday mornings are Dr Roger Simpson’s Art/History Lectures and on Sunday 29th is a Gardeners Forum with popular garden designer and consultant Charlotte Philcox, Radio Norfolk’s Garden Party’s Ian Roofe and Botanist, Richard Hobbs. So, if you are having trouble with a virulent weed or don’t know what to plant where join us at the Hall to find the answers to all your gardening questions.

And finally, if you are a fan of Britain’s Got Talent you will not want to miss our evening of International Award-winning Comedy Juggling with Jay Rawlings who smashed the Guinness World Record for balancing 11 chairs on his chin on the show – click here if you do not believe it because it is truly amazing. He will be performing with his Dad Steve Rawlings who explodes onto the stage with a unique collection of tricks and stunts that will not only blow you away but give you more laughs than many a comic. This hilarious and original show is on Saturday 28th and will be a night to remember.

And just to remind you our well stocked bar selling drinks, sweets and ice-creams will be open for all our afternoon and evening events. Please note the bar is cash only so come prepared!!
