Well done to Bungay and Beccles Taekwondo Clubs whose students recently competed at the British Championships this month held at Ryton Nr Coventry. The competition was as fierce as ever, and a perfect test for the students to show off their patterns and sparring abilities. Categories are decided by age, belt grade and weight, with competitors coming from all over the UK to take part.
Successful Medal Winners were:
Mr Clinton Gillett: Silver Sparring Veteran Black Belt Males 3-4th Degree
Mrs Susie Bedingfield: Gold Patterns Veteran Ladies 2nd Degree Black Belt
Mr Nidge Bedingfield: Bronze Sparring Veteran Male 2nd Degree Black Belt
Amanda Burden: Silver Patterns, Silver Sparring Adult Ladies Coloured belt
Barbara Mazza: Gold Sparring Veteran Ladies Coloured belt
Jason Drake: Gold Patterns, Gold Sparring, Veteran Male Coloured belt
Liam Everett: Bronze Patterns Junior Coloured belt
Lucy Thurbon: Gold Patterns Peewee Coloured belt
Several other competitors narrowly missed out on the medals, sometimes by the tightest of margins, but all performed with real Taekwondo spirit and demonstrated great humility in defeat, more determined to come back stronger at their next tournament.
Both clubs are gearing up for the summer so if you want to come along and try the sport of Taekwondo there is always room for new beginners. You will be made very welcome at our family friendly classes where mums and dads learn along side their children.
