Bungay High School Winter Concert

Winter Concert

The annual Bungay High School Winter Concert took place in early December. Over sixty students from all year groups took part. The Chamber Ensemble opened the concert, followed by solo performances from singer Charlotte Mayhew and tuba player Matthew Rolph.

Year 11 student Benjamin Shaw sang two of Roger Quilter’s Shakespeare Songs. GCSE musicians from Years 9 and 10 performed several pieces including songs by Oasis and the Cranberries, as well as their own compositions.

There were assured performances from Olivia Martin and Isabella Taylor, and from Charlotte Youngman and Stanley Mackintosh. Owen McCloud performed an original composition using guitar and loop pedal.

There were also fine performances by Year 7 pianist Alex Booty who played Chopin’s Nocturne in C# minor and flautist Isaac Zipfel who played ‘Vivace’ by Telemann.

A Level Music students Hannah Pywell and Caitlin Crabb each sang their own compositions and accompanied themselves on piano. Student band ‘The Above’ played two of their own songs which were enthusiastically received by the audience.

Finally the Choir and Signing Choir joined forces to end the evening on a high with their lively renditions of ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams and ‘Count on Me’ by Bruno Mars, accompanied by instrumentalists from Years 11 and 12.

It was a fantastic evening which demonstrated the real talent and potential of our students.
