‘Local Produce Markets’ Starting 8th April 2012

Pensthorpe Wildlife & Gardens near Fakenham in Norfolk will be giving food lovers a chance to ‘buy local’ and meet some of the region’s heartiest food producers at its new monthly Produce Markets, starting Sunday 8th April 2012.

Running every second Sunday of the month from 10am to 2pm, the Pensthorpe Local Produce Markets will unite some of the region’s independent food producers and give shoppers the chance to buy free range groceries while finding out more about the food that’s produced on their doorstep.

The first Local Produce Market on 8th April 2012 will be held at the Reserve and welcomes a wealth of producers including Brays Cottage, Norfolk Cordial, Jubberwacky Preserves, Orchard Farm Plants, Grain Brewery, Philli Chillies, The Norfolk Honey Co. Velvet Bakehouse and Hickling Lamb.

Kirsty Willingham, Events Manager at Pensthorpe Wildlife & Gardens comments: “These new Local Produce Markets are a fantastic way to bring consumers and producers together in a relaxed atmosphere, whilst tying in with the Pensthorpe ethos of producing and eating natural, local food.

“With Bill Jordan being a local food producer himself and having a working farm within the Pensthorpe estate, it’s a subject that’s very close to our hearts. We hope that these markets encourage families to learn more about their food whilst at the same time showcasing the finest fresh, healthy, free range produce”.

The events are being co-hosted by Pensthorpe and Donna Walpole of Donna’s Finest Scones. Donna is deeply passionate about encouraging people to eat local produce and runs another Local Market in Fulmodeston.

Set in the beautiful grounds of Pensthorpe, it’s also the ideal time for people to make a day of their visit and enjoy the 500 acres of stunning wetland, gardens, meadows, farmland and Conservation Centre at the Nature Reserve.

Entry to the Local Produce Market is free of charge.
