Purdy’s Tea Room based at Woodgate Nursery in Aylsham hosted a Macmillan Coffee Day on Friday 29th September, which included a charity raffle to win a hamper full of tea room and nursery goodies (worth over £50).

All hot drink proceeds sold throughout the day went to the charity, with the tea room also offering Macmillan themed cakes, including a raspberry and almond battenburg.

Lisa Smith, tea room manager, commented ‘This year has been really well supported and with all proceeds from the hot drinks being donated, we have raised over £720 for Macmillan, a fantastic amount. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped us raise so much for a great cause’

The coffee morning was sponsored by Calypso Coffee.

Woodgate Nursery

A traditional plant nursery located just outside the beautiful market town of Aylsham, the business was established in 1982 by Peter Purdy as a hobby.

With a passion for gardening, Peter started growing plants on a plot of land backing on to this house, selling his creations by the roadside. Fast forward a few years and today this hobby has grown into Woodgate Nursery. A thriving business stocking more than 700 varieties of Herbaceous Perennials, shrubs, vegetable plants, trees, ferns, roses, hedging and bog plants.

But what hasn’t changed is Peter’s wish to provide customers with the best possible range of plants along with friendly, personal service.
