Harleston’s Future is leading a campaign to have a Harleston Hare, decorated with swifts and wild animals, in the town centre over the summer. It will form part of GoGoHares, a Norfolk wide scheme to raise money for the local charity, Break and will help put Harleston on the map.

The gardens opening in May for the Norfolk National Garden Scheme(NGS) feature a profusion of vivid colours ranging from carpets of bluebells to bright yellow and orange azaleas and bold blooms of massed rhododendrons.

The bluebell woodland at Sotshole Broad nature reserve, next to Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden at South Walsham, will be open every day from Monday, April 23 to Sunday, May 13, 10am to 5pm. Access is via Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden.

Now in its sixth year, this year’s festival begins with its community carnival on Saturday 9 June, which this year takes ‘circus’ as its theme. 2018 is the 250th anniversary of circus and Great Yarmouth and Norwich are jointly one of six ‘circus cities’ around the country, which will be the focal points of celebrations under the banner of Circus 250.

Paralympic swimmer, Jessica-Jane Applegate MBE and Councillor David Ward, Chairman Broadland District Council, will officially open the completed Main Bridges Path project at Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden, South Walsham at 11am on Tuesday 20 March, to mark English Tourism Week.
