The first annual Waveney Valley Food and Drink Festival will take place on the 6th and 7th October 2012 and be celebrated in style at Bungay Castle.

 This year, the Waveney Valley’s delicious produce will be celebrated in the historic grounds of the castle and the event will be running from 10am until 3.30pm on both days. Entry is free.

The event, which is funded by the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) will bring together some of the finest producers from the Waveney Valley.

Stallholders, including Norfolk’s leading micro-brewery, Grain Brewery, artisan chocolatiers Just Truffles and award-winning cheese makers Fielding Cottage will be encouraging visitors to enjoy a taste of what the Waveney Valley does best – outstanding food and drink.

Robert Oberhoffer, chef at The Dove Restaurant will be leading the culinary line-up, which includes Sharon Todd of the Swan Hotel in Gillingham and Mark Hougham, chef at The Castle Inn. Chefs will be showing audiences how to make delicious food with local ingredients throughout the day from our demonstration area. There will also be children’s activities to ensure it is a fun day for all the family.

In addition to the main programme, there will be fringe events taking place at different venues across the valley from the 5th to the 8th October. Activities include the famous Bungay Real Ale Trail, a celebration of Waveney Valley apples and pears at the Earsham Street Cafe and a beer festival at the Kings Head.

The Waveney Valley Food and Drink Festival is organised as a part of the Waveney Valley Identity Project. The Project, a joint initiative with Mid Suffolk, South Norfolk and Waveney District Councils is funded by the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE).
