Charities Co-operate for Christmas

Several charities are coming together at Brancaster next month to put their Christmas cards on sale.

“It has always seemed such a good idea for charities to do this in Norwich and other centres, but they are a long way from us”, said Verily Borthwick who is organising the event.

People in rural areas along the north Norfolk coast need only travel as far as the Simms-Reeve Institute in Brancaster on Wednesday 10th November to find a choice of charities.

Christmas Cards will be on sale between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Charities represented will be the RNLI, Tapping House Hospice from Snettisham, the Air Ambulance, Save the Children Fund and two local churches – St. Mary, Burnham Deepdale and St. Mary, Old Hunstanton.

“It’s the first time we have done this,” said Verily, “but if it’s successful, we’ll repeat it and maybe enlarge it next year.”
