the sweet

Tue 18 Dec, 7.30pm

The Sweet

Blockbuster Glam Christmas Party! The Sweet became one of the biggest bands of the 1970s and were the quintessential glam rockers who brought androgynous looks and crunching guitar pop to the masses. Pop hits like ‘Fox On The Run’, ‘Love Is Like Oxygen’, ‘Little Willy’ and ‘Wig-Wam Bam’, were countered by harder rock songs, such as ‘Blockbuster’, ‘Ballroom Blitz’, ‘Hell Raiser’ and ‘Teenage Rampage’. You may remember Tia Carrere’s version of ‘Ballroom Blitz’ in Wayne’s World, while The Sweet’s version was used to promote the film Suicide Squad in 2016. The use of ‘Fox On The Run’ in the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (also in 2016) led to the song reaching number one on the iTunes Rock Chart.
