Christmas Fun
at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts

Do something different this December and visit the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts. The Centre will be staging a fantastic weekend of Christmas family activities on Saturday 6 December and Sunday 7 December. Throughout the month enjoy a special Christmas trail in the gallery, find a gift in the Sainsbury Centre Gallery Shop and enjoy coffee and a mince pie in the Gallery Café. Admission to the permanent collections is free. The Centre closes for Christmas on 23 December at 4pm.

“We hope that the Centre will have a lovely buzz with families enjoying our Christmas activities and children exploring the collections in Santa hats”
– Emily Ward, Education and Events Officer, Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.

Throughout December children and families can explore the Centre’s permanent collections with a free Christmas trail. Children will be able to borrow a Santa hat from reception, find the snowflakes in the gallery and draw and colour the objects they discover.

On Saturday 6 December between 12pm and 4pm families can take part in a special Christmas art activity in the galleries or enjoy stories told by the Sainsbury Centre Guides about the collections and Christmas. There will also be chance for children to have their faces painted on a Christmas theme.

On Sunday 7 December the art activities in the gallery will be repeated between 12pm and 4pm and the face painting will also be running. It will be the Centre’s regular First Sunday for families so there will be music in the Gallery Café from 1pm – 3pm. There will also be chance to take part in the artist-led workshop sessions making advent calendars in the Studio.
