Mary Muir - Blackbird lino print

‘Claws, Beaks and Feathers’ is a fabulous exhibition which has recently opened at the Ravenous Cafe at Raveningham Centre, NR14 6NU as part of Celebrate the Waveney & Blyth programme of events and runs till 22 September 2013.

Owls swoop and peer imperiously, swans lounge elegantly, puffins look comical, specks of starlings flock and dance, robins perch cheekily and crows look ominous.Packed with over 70 works by 30 artists, hung against the wonderfully glowing bare brick walls of the cafe, the exhibition is full of delightful images by Norfolk and Suffolk artists. Monoprint, lino print, etching and aquatint sit alongside fine watercolours, striking oils and acrylics, and are joined by stitched works, ceramics and fused glass. There really is something for everyone to enjoy.

The venue will host a Waveney & Blyth Arts & Eats event on Tuesday 3 September when sculptor and Georgina Warne, one of the featured artists, and former illustrator of one of Richard Mabey’s books, will be showing her work and talking about ‘art, life & birds’. The event runs from 12.30 – 2pm and includes a delicious light lunch, chance to look round the exhibition and to meet others interested in the arts. Tickets £12 (W&BA members £10).

The free entry exhibition is open from Thursday to Sunday each week during Cafe opening hours (10 – 5pm), which serves a selection of home-made cakes and light lunches using many ingredients sourced from the neighbouring Raveningham estate.
