Aylsham Heritage Centre

The Heritage Centre in Aylsham is open again for the 2019 season with a brand-new exhibition called “Aylsham Pubs and Inns” which looks at the history of Aylsham through the many pubs and inns which have traded in the town.

The exhibition is based on the new publication recently produced by the History Society called ‘A New History of Aylsham Public Houses’ which builds on the original research of Elizabeth Gale.  There was so much interesting information in this book that a full-scale exhibition has been possible.

The exhibition details the general history of all the 30 plus pubs which have traded in the town at one time, and links these to other aspects of the town’s history, such as the railways and the wherries and mills.
