dance company Rambert

Arts and community charity Creative Arts East is bringing internationally renowned dance company Rambert to share their passion, expertise and magic with older people across Norfolk this winter, as part of the ‘Our Day Out’ programme.

‘Our Day Out’ is a fantastic programme, funded by the Spirit of 2012 Trust, and delivered by Creative Arts East, engaging older people in Norfolk with culture and creativity through high quality participatory music and dance sessions, delivered by professional artists. The inclusive programme for older people takes place twice monthly place at six locations across Norfolk, in a dementia friendly environment. ‘Our Day Out’ offers participants unique opportunities to make new friends, try something new and enhance wellbeing.

Rambert are recognised as world leaders in contemporary dance, and one of their most acclaimed works
’Ghost Dances’ is currently completing a national tour, including dates at Theatre Royal Norwich. In this special commission, dancers from Rambert will devise and deliver six participatory sessions to the ‘Our Day Out’ groups, drawing from Rambert’s extensive repertoire, to take each group on a journey, developing and building on the participants own interests and skills. The sessions are fun and engaging, and seek to break down as many barriers to participation as possible.

In addition to these exciting workshops, the ‘Our Day Out’ participants will watch a matinée performance of Rambert’s ‘Ghost Dances’ at Norwich Theatre Royal. Finally, to celebrate the groups’ time with Rambert, in December there will be a special outing to the company’s London base, taking in a guided tour of Rambert’s archive, participating in some fun dance sessions and celebrating their success over lunch.

Creative Arts East’s ‘Our Day Out’ programme is supported by Norfolk County Council, Breckland Council and North Norfolk District Council, and is an ongoing programme of cultural and creative experiences for all older people. A series of exciting new workshops and sessions is coming up throughout 2018, delivered by professional arts practitioners and companies, and will include singing, music, dance and much more.

‘Our Day Out’ is open to all older people, and keen to welcome even more participants to its groups in Attleborough, Dereham, Watton, Thetford, Wells-next-the-sea and North Walsham. If you, or someone you know would like to find out more about joining, then please get in touch with Lea Schiller at Creative Arts East on 01953 713390 or email [email protected] for more information.
