At Deepdale their thoughts often turn to music (and tea), but in September lots and lots of music is on their minds, as they prepare for the Deepdale Festival, which is just 4 short weeks away on the last weekend of September.  Deepdale Backpackers & Camping celebrate the original artist talent of this beautiful part of the world, Norfolk and the adjoining counties, by hosting more than 30 acts over 3 days, including rock, blues, country, folk, Americana, spoken word and more. “I love being surrounded by musicians and creative talent, and Deepdale Festival is about these fantastically creative people all gathering in one lovely place to make great music.” said Chris, the Festival Director.  “After the success of our first Deepdale Festival in 2017, it is wonderful to see the support for this event both from artists and visitors.  Our whole crew are looking forward to hosting what should be a very special weekend.”

The headliners for this year’s festival are simply fantastic.  The Vagaband headline Friday evening on the Brick Barn Stage, a roots-rock band who have a huge reputation nationally.  The Thinking Men headline the Brick Barn Stage on Saturday night, a stage show you really want to experience.  The Shackleton Trio with their brilliant musicality and self-penned songs headline the Orchard Stage on Saturday evening.  And Das Fenster & the Alibis close the festival on Sunday evening with what will no doubt be a fittingly dramatic set on the Brick Barn Stage.

In the rest of the line-up there is some amazing quality, established artists and bands who are breaking through with the help of shows like BBC Introducing.  They include Alden Patterson & Dashwood who many will have heard on Radio 2, Lisa Redford who is one of Whispering Bob Harris’ favourite song writers, Sam Coe & The Long Shadows one of the UK’s premier country bands, Tilly Moses a modern folk singer who tells the most wonderful stories through her music, and the world travelled Sheringham Shantymen.

The regular customers of Deepdale have showed their support for this weekend by booking up all the accommodation on the Deepdale Backpackers & Camping site.  The campsite and both hostels are completely full.  However, the crew at Deepdale have been gathering a list of local accommodation with availability, which can be viewed on the festival website.  So yet again the tiny village of Burnham Deepdale, with about 30 permanent residents, will make a massive contribution to the out of season tourism economy of the North Norfolk Coast.  Just think there are more artists performing at Deepdale Festival than there are permanent residents. “It’s a great feeling to see customers loving the events we put on.  With Chris’ musical knowledge we’ve really begun to establish Deepdale as a great place to find live music, and both the artists and music lovers return again and again.  We host live music every month, throughout the year, and the Deepdale Festival is the pinnacle of that musical year.” said Jason Borthwick, Managing Director of Deepdale Backpackers & Camping.

The programme has begun to be announced, with the first twenty six artists listed on the Deepdale Festival website – www.deepdalefestival.co.uk Although there is no accommodation left at Deepdale Backpackers & Camping, day tickets are available for visitors staying elsewhere or for locals looking forward to attending.  Weekend day tickets are £30 for adults, £15 for children (16 and under), and individual day tickets are also available.  All the information about attending is available on the festival website – www.deepdalefestival.co.uk

It should be a great weekend of live music, and a late Summer event not to be missed.  Deepdale Festival takes place in Burnham Deepdale from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th September.
