Dentill 2013 – The Best Ever

The fourth Dentill, held on Sunday at Glebe Farm, Denton was even more successful than its three predecessors held in 2007, 2009 and 2011. The event, a farming festival – “a celebration of bygone farming tradition”, attracted a record attendance.

This time more than 1,000 people attended and were able to watch a wide range of agricultural processes. These included ploughing and harrowing by tractors of all ages; more than 60 turned up. As usual the traction engine powered threshing operation was a magnificent sight and the displays of vintage vehicles, agricultural and otherwise, were very popular. The children’s activities, including a sand pit, pets’ corner and tractor rides, were very popular. Throughout the day the food tent and bar did a roaring trade – Denton’s own Blackhand Cyder was very popular. In the afternoon the flying display by a WWII Mustang fighter was an added attraction.

The organisers would like to thank all the many volunteers who gave up their time to make the event such a success and in particular Malcolm and Janet Skinner for providing the excellent venue. The total sum raised, for charity, is expected to be over £7,000.
