XMAS POP-UP MUSIC SHOP IN DISS

Local musical instruments and sheet-music dealer PJ Music is popping up as a shop in the run up to Christmas, with a variety of stock filling out the old YMCA charity (and Currys before that) premises on Mere Street (no.27).  Doors open on Thursday 22nd November.  With all the good busking going on down by Mere end of town, as well as a discerning bookshop, might music-followers support a permanent music shop in Diss’s cultural hub?

CAUTION TO THE WIND

WE’RE LOOKING FOR BRASS PLAYERS: TUBA! TROMBONE! Eb HORN! CORNET! TRUMPET!

The Caution to the Wind music collective in the Diss / Eye area got off to a fine start this month, with seven players gathered and six more waiting in the wings.  We have saxophones, clarinets, some strings, and a rhythm section – but we really need more brassy brass instruments.  We play an eclectic mix from wind band, to classical, to jazz and soul and have a range of abilities as long as you can read music at least a little.  Please email: [email protected]

INDIGO

If you are looking for an excellent band for a party or function this Xmas and New Year, world-music group Indigo play songs from Africa, the Americas and across Europe – as well as some home-grown favourites.  With saxophone, trumpet, guitar, percussion and more the group has performed at local festivals, pubs, weddings and parties.  See: www.reverbnation.com/indigo96
