James Bolam English Eccentrics
James Bolam and Susan Jameson will be bringing English Eccentrics to Beccles Public Hall.

A leading television actor who has appeared on our screens for nearly 60 years is heading to Beccles this month for one night only.

James Bolam, star of The Likely Lads, New Tricks and Grandpa in My Pocket, will be appearing on stage at Beccles Public Hall next Sunday, October 20th with his wife, actress Susan Jameson.

Their show, English Eccentrics, in association with Clive Conway Productions, will see the married couple present a musical celebration of some of the colourful and remarkable characters who have entertained us throughout the ages, and still stand out today.

Amongst the endearing public figures introduced will be author Lewis Carroll, Dr Samuel Johnson and conductor Sir Thomas Beecham.

The couple will be accompanied by Christine Croshaw on the piano and Clive Conway on the flute.

Lesley Cox, Events Coordinator at the Hall said: “We are so excited to have what we consider acting royalty on our stage. It really is a one-off opportunity to spend the evening in their company and witness their talent at such close quarters.

“Neither have visited Beccles before, so we really are honoured.”

Tickets for the 7.30pm show are £19.50.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for something to do this half term then join popular children’s entertainer and award-winning magician Andrew Miller, who will be at the Hall on Wednesday, October 23, to entertain the whole family.

Bringing with him a mixture of disco, games, magic and balloon modelling, children between three and 10 years can enjoy two hours of fun from 10.30am, with doors opening at 10am.

Lesley said: “Andrew is very talented and has buckets of experience hosting children’s parties. It’s a really lovely event for families during the half term week and we hope that lots of people will come along to join in the activities.”

Tickets to Andrew Miller’s Party Time are £5 for children and £1 for adults, with every child receiving a free balloon model to take home.

To book, pop into the box office between 10am-3pm, Monday to Saturday, or call 01502 770060 during these times. Alternatively, visit www.becclespublichall.co.uk
