Brand New Heavies

This pioneering jazz collective helped create the sound of acid jazz, fusing funk, soul and hip hop production to create their unique sound.

Early hits ‘Never Stop’ and ‘Dream Come True’ were original chunks of organic funk that earned the band a reputation as a formidable live act and their reinterpretations of popular standards, such as ‘Midnight At The Oasis’, Carole King’s ‘You’ve Got A Friend’ and the Stevie Wonder classic ‘I Don’t Know Why (I Love You)’, brought major global chart success.

Gretchen Peters

Strings Attached: Gretchen Peters with her band & The Southern Fried String Quartet. One of Nashville’s most beloved and respected artists, Gretchen won two AMA Awards for 2015 album ‘Blackbirds’. Her 2018 album ‘Dancing With the Beast’ blends shades of country-rock, indie-folk and Southern gothic with Peters’ smoky honeyed voice.
Reprising her headlining set at the 2019 Celtic Connections Festival, Glasgow, Gretchen will be joined by her band, led by long-time musical partner Barry Walsh, and the Southern Fried String Quartet.

Some Kinda Wonderful: The Music of Stevie Wonder

Vocalist Noel McCalla, saxophonist Derek Nash and a band of world-class musicians play the greatest hits from the incredible Stevie Wonder.

For more than 19 years, Noel McCalla’s searing, soulful vocals were featured with the iconic Manfred Mann’s Earth Band and his long association with the Morrisey Mullen Band earned him acclaim as “one of Britain’s best Soul Singers” (Blues and Soul Magazine).

Derek Nash has played in Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and the Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion. He has won several British Jazz Awards and performed with Gregory Porter, Chaka Khan, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Amy Winehouse and many more.
