County Upper School Swing Band are said to be one of the best big bands in the area. They have a wide repertoire of big band and swing music from the 40’s to the present day.

5 July: West Suffolk Youth Wind Band, West Suffolk Youth Big Band and West Suffolk Youth Ceilidh Band, playing a unique mix of jazz folk and concert band music.
Sat 6, 7.30pm: West Suffolk Youth Orchestra, some of the best young musicians in West Suffolk playing a selection of light orchestral music, including Saint Saens’ Danse Macabre, best know as the theme tune for Jonathan Creek.

West Suffolk Young Musician 2013 Finalists’ Concert
Heats took place in February, at three levels and in five categories – strings, woodwind, piano, brass and voice. Now the winners of each Heat get the chance to perform a selection of music of their own choice. The level 1 winners present a “Showcase Performance” during the adjudicators’ deliberations, and last year’s West Suffolk Young Musician, Dominic Seymour (violin), will also be performing.
