Lowestoft’s Marina Theatre has announced it will present extra screenings of BAFTA winning film 12 Years A Slave from Saturday 22nd Feb 2014.

The critically acclaimed film which has already won the coveted Golden Globe Award for Best Picture took BAFTA Awards for Best Film & Best Leading Actor at a ceremony in London last night. The film also has 8 OSCAR Nominations.

Extra screenings will take place this Saturday, 22 February 2014 at 8.15pm, Monday 24, Tuesday 25 & Wednesday 26 Feb at 2.30 & 7.30pm daily with two final extra performances running on Friday 21 March at 2.30pm & 7.30pm.

Set in pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup, a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty, as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity12 Years A Slave which was directed by Steve McQueen also won Best Actor for Chiwetel Ejiofor.

As with all Marina films, admission costs £5 for adults with concessions and theatre friends priced at £4.50. As with all Marina films, tickets purchased at least 24hours in advance are priced at £4.
