FANN15, Norfolk Association of Architects’ fourth biennial festival celebrating the county’s contemporary architecture, returns from Sunday 4 October to Tuesday 10 November, with a exciting programme of events in Norwich. 

Many of the events are free and include exhibitions showcasing Norfolk architects’ work at The Forum (4 to 11 October), plus Norwich University of Arts (NUA) students’ work at NUA (Physical, 5-9 October) and at Norwich Castle Museum (26-30 October tying in with Spooky Norwich).

O’Donnell and Tuomey: John Tuomey and Sheila O’Donnell winners of the RIBA Gold Medal, who are giving The Norwich Lecture, UEA 10 November.

There are lectures from O’Donnell and Tuomey (UEA, 10 November), winners of the 2015 RIBA Gold medal and Will Alsop (NUA, 8 October), along with architecture inspired art at 11 venues across the city from 28 September to 9 November.

The Forum by David Jones. His exhibition is at Kofra Speciality Coffee Brewers, Unthank Road, Norwich from 9 October to 9 November.

Architecture themed guided walks take in The UEA Campus (15 October), Medieval Norwich (16 October) and the impact of celebrated Victorian and Edwardian architects Skipper and Boardman (24 October).

St James Mill by Stacey Knights. Her exhibition is at Frank’s Bar from 28 September to 9 November.

There’s a Spooooooky Castle Treasure Hunt for children at Norwich Castle Museum (26-30 October) and an architecture themed writing project with local primary schools, which will conclude with readings of the finished book, The Cold Old Old Lady House in early November.

Architecture on Film, classic films at Cinema City, with architecture adding context and a backdrop, features Blade Runner (12 October), Playtime (19 October) and Get Carter (26 October). 

Pecha Kucha, the fast-moving presentation format, first devised by Japan-based architects Klein Dytham, returns to the bar at Cinema City (11 October). Presentations comprise 20 slides and are 20 seconds long.

Philip Bodie from Feilden and Mawson, Chair of the FANN15 steering group said:  “We have created an exciting programme of activities in Norwich, which we hope will increase interest and understanding of the role that contemporary architecture plays in Norfolk’s cultural life and the changing face of the county.
