There are a range of activities taking place during half term at Suffolk’s Libraries:

Saxmundham Library is holding a fun German taster session for children on Thursday 20 February. The session is aimed at 7-12 year olds and takes place from 1pm-2.30pm. There is a cost of £5 per child. For more information or to book a place please call 01728 652440.

Bury St Edmunds Library is hosting a Jewellery Making Workshop on Friday 21 February. The workshop is aimed at children aged 7 – 12 and includes two sessions from 10am – 11am and 11.30am to 12.30pm. There is a cost of £5 and spaces are limited so please contact the library to book a place.  Younger children coming along to sessions at the library next week will also be drawing pictures of each letter of the alphabet which will be used to decorate the children’s library next month.

Halesworth Library is running a free children’s craft activity on Wednesday 19 February from 2pm to 4pm.

Ipswich County Library is holding an afternoon of magic and mystery at the library next Wednesday afternoon (19 February). Mr Bean Entertainment will be providing two shows of magic and balloon modelling for children and families. The first is already sold out but there are tickets available for the second show at 3.30pm. Entrance is £3 per person for library members and £3.50 for non members – so why not join the library before booking your ticket! Craft activities will also be available during the afternoon which are included in the ticket price.

Ipswich Library is also launching a new reading support group to help adults with their reading skills. The group starts on Sunday 16 February and will run every two weeks from 2pm to 3pm. Anyone interested can just come along on the day. The group is being held on the library’s second floor in the Music and Drama Library.

Brandon Library is holding Arts Award taster workshops on Monday 17 February aimed at 11-14 year olds with an interest in art and creating a portfolio of work to get an Arts Award. The sessions from from 10am to 12.30pm. Please contact the library if you are interested on 01842 816106.

Beccles Library is launching a new ‘Get Creative’ craft session on Thursday 20 February. The session will be using very simple sewing techniques and will start by designing and decorating book bags which you can then put your library books in. The library is also holding a French open chat session on Saturday 22 February from 10am to 11am to give people the chance to practice or brush up their French speaking skills.

Woodbridge Library is holding its next lunchtime music concert next Tuesday (18 February)  at 12.45pm. Egon Liepa, whose lunchtime concert in October last year was a great success, returns with another programme of piano music which will take you on a journey through time. Admission is free but any donations would be welcome.
