There is a very varied programme of cinema in store at the Fisher this month.

Next week the winner of this year’s Oscar for Best Picture, THE SHAPE OF WATER (15), reaches Bungay on Monday 16 July.  A love story set in Baltimore in 1962 and starring the wonderful British actress, Sally Hawkins (Mrs Brown in the PADDINGTON films).  Hawkins plays Elisa, a mute cleaner in a in a top secret  research facility whose isolated life is changed forever when she discovers the truth about a highly classified experiment.  Directed by Guillermo del Toro, best known for PAN’S LABRYNTH, ‘THE SHAPE OF WATER is an unexpected and irresistible delight’.  Paul Whitington in the Irish Independent.  USA 2018.  2 hours and 3 minutes.

A week later, on Monday 23 July, COCO (PG), Disney’s latest from Pixar is another Oscar winner,.  This animated fantasy about a young Mexican boy was well-received by audiences and critics alike.  The Daily Mail described COCO as ‘an unmissable treat for all the family’.   The Guardian called it ‘charming and very memorable’ and in the Evening Standard ‘funny, irreverent and eye popping’.  USA 2018.  1 hour and 45 minutes.

LOVING VINCENT (12A) on Monday 30 July is this month’s film club offering.  The life and controversial death of Vincent Van Gogh as recounted in his paintings and by the characters that inhabit them.  This feature length animated film was originally shot using real actors in places or on sets created to resemble the artist’s works, then painted over, frame by frame, using a team of over 100 painters.  The film has been popular with audiences, a prize-winner at many festivals and was nominated for both BAFTA and Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature.
