The Bungay Film Club is taking a break this month and will be back in the autumn with 5 titles, including the Return of AKENFIELD, by popular demand, and this year’s Best Picture Oscar winner, MOONLIGHT. You will receive an email giving full details of our forthcoming programme soon.

In the meantime, the Fisher will continue their Monday screenings, starting with THE FOUNDER (12A) this Monday 14 August.  The story of Ray Croc, a salesman who turned the two McDonald brothers’ innovative fast-food eatery into the biggest restaurant business in the world, THE FOUNDER puts Michael (BIRDMAN) Keaton’s magnetic performance at the centre of an intelligent biopic that traces the rise of one of America’s most influential businessmen, and the birth of one of its most far-reaching industries.

The Fisher will be screening another fact based drama on Monday 21 August.  SNOWDEN (15) tells the story of the National Security Agency contractor who became a fugitive after exposing his employer’s shocking illegal surveillance activities. Oscar-winner Oliver Stone’s  docudrama, starring Joseph Gordon Levitt as the NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, ‘is the director’s most exciting – and relevant – movie in years’, writes Owen Glieberman in Variety magazine.

Lastly, on Bank Holiday Monday 28 August, Joan and Pauline Collins co-star in THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES (12A), a comic British road movie about a faded Hollywood starlet who enlists the help of a downtrodden housewife to escape her retirement home and travel to the funeral of a former showbiz acquaintance on the exclusive Ile de Re.  Once across the Channel, the ill-assorted couple hook up with Franco (CAMELOT) Nero’s Italian artist who takes them under his wing. Matthew Turner in The List writes that ‘the Collinses make an engaging double act and the strength of their performances goes a long way towards papering over some of the script’s shortcomings.’

All films start at 7.30 pm.  All Fisher Theatre Cinema seats £5.  Apologies, no reductions for film club members.  Tickets available at the Fisher Box Office or at www.fishertheatre.org/programme.shtml?Code=F&.
