creative workshops

Next week arts charity, Suffolk Artlink, will begin running free arts workshops for adults who care for an adult family member in Ipswich.

As part of their Around the Table project, which began in Lowestoft last year, Suffolk Artlink are now expanding the project to offer family carers in Ipswich a chance to explore food, creativity and culture with like-minded people in regular half day workshops.

The new workshops are free of charge and will take place at the Claydon Suffolk Family Carers Hub.

They will be led by a rich variety of experienced chefs, food-led practitioners and artists.

Taster 1

Thursday 2nd August, 10am – 12pm: Chef Lola De Mille will be helping us to create our very own personalised spice mix to take home.

Taster 2

Thursday 9th August, 10am – 12pm: Jaki Clibbon will be teaching us how to make a Vietnamese Green Papaya Salad.

Suffolk Artlink are using these sessions to explore the possibility of offering regular creative sessions for adult family carers in Ipswich.

Previous workshops have proved a huge success.

Claire, a family carer, said of the sessions: “Really enjoyed it, learning something new. I wouldn’t normally get the chance to meet other adult carers.”

Janet, another family carer, added: “Really interesting food – I enjoyed making it. I forgot all my problems when soooo involved. ‘

Participants are welcome to attend one or both of the workshops. No experience is necessary and reasonable travel costs can also be provided.

The long-term aim of Around the Table is to work together towards a carer-led initiative which continues beyond the project’s lifetime.

The Claydon Suffolk Family Carers Hub can be found at 1 Old Ipswich Road, Claydon, Ipswich IP6 0AJ.

To book onto any of the workshops, or to find out more, please contact Kasia Don-Daniel, [email protected] / 01986 873955.

Places are limited, so please book in advance to avoid disappointment.
