family carers workshops

Arts charity, Suffolk Artlink, have announced a series of new arts workshops for adult family carers in Lowestoft as part of their Around the Table project.

Following an initial workshop in November last year, the new sessions are free of charge and will take place at the Kirkley Centre in Lowestoft on the 25th January, 23rd February and 23rd March.  More are planned to follow later in the year.

By exploring food, creativity and culture in regular workshops, the arts charity will give adult family carers an opportunity to gain respite from their caring role, develop new support systems, learn new skills and build their confidence.

Workshops will be led by a rich variety of experienced chefs, food-led practitioners and artists.

The first workshop, which took place last November was a huge success.

Claire, a family carer, said of the first session, held last November: “Really enjoyed it, learning something new. I wouldn’t normally get the chance to meet other adult carers”.

June, another family carer in attendance, added: “It was very good, I can’t wait for more!”

Participants are welcome to attend as many or as few of the workshops as they are able. No experience is necessary and reasonable travel costs can also be provided.
