Gainsborough Club 4 Teenz enjoy summer activities

Gainsborough Community Library in Ipswich has been organising a range of activities for young library users.

Members of the Club 4 Teenz youth club recently enjoyed a day of making their own music at the library with a three-day Bandclubz music workshop. They were given the chance to form bands, write lyrics, compose music and play instruments.

They all really enjoyed themselves and put on a performance for family and friends on the final evening. The recorded songs should be available to hear on the Musiclubz website www.musiclubz.com/Bandclubz.htm in the near future. Young library users also enjoyed a visit to Christchurch Park which included an event getting close to snakes and lizards. The trip was supported by the local policy community support officer, Tracy Quinton.

News release – Gainsborough Library welcomes the community

Gainsborough Community Library in Clapgate Lane in Ipswich is inviting the community to come and see what their local library has to offer next month.

The Voices for Gainsborough Library group is working with library staff to organise a weekend of activities on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September 2013 to show people what the library has to offer.

The events will run from 11am to 3pm on both days and there will be fun and engaging activities for people of all ages.

There will be a chance to sample the library’s activities for children, teenagers and older people. There will also be a book sale and visitors can try out the library’s new free wi-fi and visit the volunteer-run community cafe’. There will be competitions and a chance for local people to give their ideas on what else the library could offer.

The library will be holding a presentation on Sunday 8 September for all the children who have completed the summer reading challenge over the summer holidays.
