Ixworth Library

Ixworth Library is holding its first Get Connected event to promote Suffolk’s online library services.

The event is taking place on Thursday 19 May 2016 from 2pm to 5.30pm and will be a chance for local people to get expert help and information on the free eBooks, eAudio books, eMagazines, and music  downloads available from Suffolk Libraries.

With the support of the Ixworth Library Friends group, the library is also launching a new service lending iPads and supporting this with a series of additional learning sessions, to help older customers get to grips with the library’s digital services and with using iPads.

The aim of the learning sessions is to show older people how eBooks and eAudio books can benefit those with eyesight problems – as you can enlarge the text on an eReader and they can be a lot easier to hold and use than a heavier large print book. The sessions will also help older people to become more familiar with what the internet can offer them.

The Get Connected event will also be an ideal opportunity for all ages to try out an eReader device or bring your own  device to get advice on using it to access Suffolk’s extensive eLibrary services using the library’s free customer Wi-Fi.

Libraries across Suffolk regularly offer Get Connected events and the nearby Thurston Library was the first to begin lending eReader devices. There is more information about eLibrary services at www.suffolklibraries.co.uk/elibrary
