Once again, Halesworth Arts Festival is delighted to present

The Tessa Fuchs Chamber Series 2014

We are delighted to present the third year of four spring concerts.

All performances are at The Cut Arts Centre in Halesworth and begin at 2.30pm.

Light lunches are available at The Cut Café from 1.00pm.

Described by The Strad as having all the qualities of a world-class artist, during 2013 Philip appeared as soloist with the Philharmonia, Hallé, Northern Sinfonia and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras.  He gave recitals at Wigmore Hall, the Brighton, City of London, Gower (broadcast by Radio 3) and Lichfield Festivals.  In January Delphian Records released his recording of the Britten Suites to critical acclaim.

Philip is one of the first British cellists in generations to have won top prizes at three major international competitions including 1st Prize in the 2008 Bach Leipzig and 2009 Lutoslawski Competitions, and 2nd Prize in the 2010 Feuermann Competition.  Born in Edinburgh, he studied at the RNCM with Emma Ferrand and Ralph Kirshbaum.  He was selected for representation by YCAT in 2009 and plays a Tecchler cello c.1730

Delmege Quartet

The Delmege Quartet formed in London in October 2011. They originally met at the National Youth Orchestra of GB in 2008, and are now students at the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music and King’s College, London. They have performed in masterclasses with the Escher, Sacconi, Piatti and Vanburgh Quartets. In 2012 they won first prize in the Norman Cooper Chamber Music Competition in Aberdeen, and their winning performance of Mendelssohn’s Quartet in F minor was broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland. This year they have given recitals in major venues across the UK including the Wigmore Hall and Colston Hall. In March they were selected to take part in the ‘Britten Sinfonia Quartet Lab’, where they studied Britten’s chamber music with members of the Britten Sinfonia at the Barbican Centre. The quartet is named after the late John Delmege, a chamber music lover whose family generously provided the Delmege with a scholarship to study with the Maggini Quartet in his memory.

Pro Arte Piano Quartet

The Pro Arte Piano Quartet was formed in 1989 by members of the world famous Academy of St Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble, whose international tours have taken them to the USA, Canada, Australia and the Far East, as well as to most countries in Europe.

The Quartet has recorded for Chandos Records and the BBC and has appeared at many major festivals. Their repertoire includes less well-known quartets by Hermann Goetz, Aaron Copeland and Sally Beamish (the latter specially commissioned for the Pro Arte), in addition to the familiar masterpieces for the medium by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Schumann, Dvorák and Fauré. Their latest recording of all three Brahms Piano Quartets will be issued in 2014.

Trio Isimsiz

The Trio Isimsiz was formed in 2009 at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, under the guidance of Louise Hopkins. They have participated in masterclasses with the Belcea, Endellion and Takács Quartets and with Pavel Gililov, Wolfgang Reddick and Thomas Riebl at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Over the last year the Trio has undertaken a residency at the Banff Centre working with Henk Guittart and given recitals at the Barbican and Royal Festival Hall.  Engagements during the 2013/14 season include recitals at Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, The Sage Gateshead, Brighton Dome and Colston Hall Bristol.

All three members of the Trio Isimsiz Piano Trio enjoy great success individually.  Erdem Misirlioglu was a Concerto Finalist in the BBC Young Musicians Competition in 2008, Pablo Hernán Benedí is a member of the Chiaroscuro Quartet, formed by Alina Ibragimova and Michael Petrov represents the UK in the European Concert Halls Organisation Rising Star series.
