Hockey and You reunited
Inspired by the GB women’s hockey GOLD medal? Thinking of getting back into hockey yourself? Or trying it for the first time?

Harleston Magpies Hockey Club are joining hundreds of clubs across the country by running Back to Hockey sessions for both men and women (over the age of 16).  Our Back to Hockey initiative will be taking place at the hockey club on the first Wednesday of every month (from 7-45pm to 9-15pm) starting on 8th October.

What are Back to Hockey sessions?
‘Back to Hockey’ is a national scheme designed for men and women with a focus on fun, fitness and friendship.  Coached sessions are provided for men and women who may not have played hockey for a long period of time or who are looking to try the sport for the first time. The sessions will provide you with a great opportunity to learn/refresh your skills and play with like-minded people in a friendly and relaxed environment without the pressure to perform.

What do I need to bring?
We have some hockey sticks available to borrow so there’s no need to buy one. Just wear suitable clothes for sport and trainers or astroturf shoes if you have them, shin pads and gum guards are recommended.  Bring a bottle of water to keep hydrated during the session, and a waterproof just in case.

Changing facilities including toilets and showers are available in the clubhouse.

What if I get the Hockey bug and want to do more?
We hope that after your taster session you will want to train more regularly than once a month maybe even play the odd match at weekends – but if you don’t that’s fine.  Magpies ladies and mens club teams train ever Wednesday, more regular attendance can be arranged whilst Saturday hockey matches are available for all standards and ages.  Hockey opportunities going forward can be tailored to suit you.

We can also point you in the right direction if you wish to take up other opportunities in hockey such as umpiring or coaching.

What will it cost?
Your first three sessions will be free of charge.

Who do I contact?
If you would like to take part in our Back to Hockey sessions please contact Peter Dolton ([email protected]) or ring 07773 069327.
