This Christmas there will be Fe-Fo-Fi-Fun for all the family at the towns Public Hall & Theatre as it prepares to present its first ever-professional pantomime ‘Jack & the Beanstalk’.

Packed with upbeat songs, dazzling costumes and stunning scenery and special effects, the show is sure not to disappoint.

The production is being staged and produced by newly formed East Anglian production company Spark Live who is pleased to be producing the show in the town over the festive period for a ten performance run.

Sue Bergin, Events Co-Ordinator at the Public Hall said “We are delighted to be working SparkLive, to offer the local community good old fashioned entertainment for all the family this Christmas. We strive to provide great quality family shows at a reasonable price whilst listening to our patrons feedback including the large number of people who have asked for panto at the Hall!”

Gavin Dean, one of the co-producers behind the show said Jack and the Beanstalk is one of his favorite pantomimes, having been a regular at Bungay’s Fisher Theatre with Steve Ace for some years.

He added, “There will be comedy, slapstick and the right amount of drama and music as well as a few custard pies and some fun along the way. We want people to walk out of the theatre having had a really good time. It will be nice to share Christmas with lots of happy, smiling faces.”

The pantomime has been sponsored by ‘Durrants’ that operates within the town and local area. Marketing Manager, Rebecca Mayhew said “Durrants are delighted to be the main sponsors of the Beccles Pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk. It has been a pleasure to see the Public Hall go from strength to strength over the last few years and we relish the opportunity to show our support for such a great local project. Beccles is a thriving market town, and it is events like this which continue to make it so.”

It’s tough times for the Trott household as no one has a penny! Poor Dame Trott is down on her milk sales and her ‘simple’ son Simon and loud-mouthed cow Daisy are no help at all. The very-evil Mr Fleshcreep threatens that if they don’t pay the rent, they will all be eaten, by the not so jolly (and in fact very nasty) Giant! When Jack is sent to market to sell their beloved cow, he comes home, not with money – but a handful of beans!

With beans for cash, is Jack’s plan to pay the rent half ‘baked’ or will he and Dame Trott & Simple Simon have to do a ‘runner’ to keep off the Giant’s dinner menu? Or could their luck be on the up thanks to the Magical Fairy? Forever the optimist, Jack believes the sky’s the limit and that every cloud has a silver (or sometimes even a golden) lining.

Packed with traditional slapstick, magic, comedy and all the usual pantomime ingredients, Jack & the Beanstalk is set to be a giant hit in the town.
