Final call for applications

Last chance for artists, galleries and art dealers to apply to be part of Art Fair East

The final call for applications has gone out from one of the biggest contemporary art fairs outside of London, which is set to return to Norwich later this year.

Art Fair East is inviting artists, galleries and art dealers to be a part of the event which will take place between 29 November and 1 December.

The deadline for applications is next Thursday, October 31.

This key event in the region’s cultural calendar will take place at St Andrews Hall, and is already set to offer the most international line-up to date.

The event will see hundreds of artworks gathered together from across the world, alongside a raft of regional talent.

With many applications already in, this year the fair – which has previously brought signed editions by Banksy and other famous artists to the region – will host artists from Japan, Sweden, Russia, Hungary, Israel, India and Mexico.

Regional artists taking part include Tanya Goddard and Oswaldo Merchor and well-loved local talents like Chedgey, Louise Stebbing and Lucy Loveheart.

Art Fair East was founded in 2015 by leading Norfolk-based artists Will Teather and Brian Korteling. The pair are passionate about bringing contemporary art to the area, increasing interest in the visual arts and supporting artists.

Will Teather, who recently had his work showcased at New York’s Market & Design Fair, said: “We have had a record number of submissions so far this year from both the East of England and across the globe, including artists and galleries from Japan, America, India, Sweden, Russia, Mexico and the UK.

“The process of choosing who to include in the exhibition is always tricky, but I can confirm already that this year promises to be our most international line up to date.

“There is still time for artists, galleries and art dealers to apply to take part in this year’s fair and we look forward to hearing from new applicants as well as regular participants.”

In 2018 Art Fair East featured around 1,000 artworks and attracted thousands of visitors from across the country.

All manner of contemporary art including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video art, installation, performance and original limited-edition prints will be on show.

Mr Korteling added: “It’s great that we are in our fifth year, each year the event grows and I’m super excited about how this year’s event is taking shape.

“We aim to make Art Fair East an event that draws art lovers to our wonderful city from far and wide but we also want to engage with those closer to home. Norwich has a great art scene with lots going on and we are sure Art Fair East will help raise the profile of the city, as a place to see and buy great art.”

Applications are open until October 31 for artists, galleries and art dealers to take part – all of the artworks must be one-off or limited edition. Subject to available space.

Dear Local Artists, East Anglian Artists –  Community Artists Database is a free to use search facility, enabling employers and people of the community to easily find local artists.

The database is continually promoted by IceniPost.com (published by imajaz LTD) and also Suffolk Artlink’s website.

All entries are also searchable online via Google.

As the database is appearing on public sights rather than being a closed database (as the Community Artists Ltd’s database was) there will be a one off charge of £20 per entry, this will go towards maintaining the site. The database includes images of artists’ work and will have the possibility of embedding YouTube videos into the entries. This gives a better example of each artist and their work.advertising
