Harry Potter Book Night

Harry Potter Book Night returns

Several of Suffolk’s libraries will be marking the third Harry Potter Book Night next month. Harry Potter Book Night takes place on Thursday 2 February and is an annual celebration of all things Harry Potter. This year’s theme is ‘The Professors of Hogwarts’.

The following events have been confirmed (all taking place on Thursday 2 February):

Felixstowe Library:

This year’s event is again being organised by Felixstowe Book Festival together with library staff and follows the success of a similar event in 2016 which was a sell-out and was attended by 60 children.

It’ll be a very special evening with a range of fun activities for children. The library will again be transformed for the occasion, with local actors playing the part of well-loved characters from the Harry Potter series and everyone coming along is invited to dress up too.

The event will run from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday 2 February and tickets are £5. The recommended age is around 7 and over and accompanying adults don’t need a ticket.

Tickets are available from Felixstowe Library and anyone interested is encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment. For more information visit www.felixstowebookfestival.co.uk, or call the library on 01394 694880.

Hannah Rowe helps co-ordinate the Felixstowe Book Festival, also works for Suffolk Libraries and has been helping to organise the Harry Potter event. She said:

“After a sell-out event last year, we can’t wait to bring Harry Potter Book Night back to Felixstowe Library for another night of magical activities and storytelling! Tickets went faster than a snitch last year and we loved welcoming 60 excited children into a transformed library to meet their favourite characters. We have a sneaky suspicion that the parents loved it just as much as the young wizards and witches.”

Some comments from children who came along to the 2016 event at Felixstowe Library:

  • “So cool, it was epic!”
  • “I loved it!”
  • “Better than the real thing!”

The event at Ipswich Library runs from 4.30pm to 6pm and tickets are £4. The event is aimed at children aged 5 plus.
