Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust AGM

Wednesday 3 October 2012

The first ever Annual General Meeting of Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is due to be held next month in Lowestoft.

The AGM, the first since the merger of the former Norfolk and Suffolk mental health trusts in January, will be on Wednesday 3 October from 5pm at the Wherry Hotel in Oulton Broad near Lowestoft.

Trust chair Maggie Wheeler will open the AGM, which will also include formal presentations of the Annual Report and Accounts 2011-12 by chief executive Aidan Thomas and finance director Andrew Hopkins.

“I look forward to seeing people at our formal AGM,” said Maggie. “This last year has been incredibly busy. Not only have we brought together the Norfolk and Suffolk mental health services but we have opened some great facilities in Norwich and Ipswich, and won some new contracts for wellbeing and drug and alcohol services.

“This is a tough time in the NHS with financial constraints and structural change – we feel we are surviving and thriving despite all the challenges.”

Members of the public are not required to register their attendance at the AGM but will be asked to sign in on the day. The AGM take place on the same day as the Board of Governors meeting, which starts at 10:30pm.

“This year we will also be presenting the review of our year at a more informal event later in the month,” Maggie added. “This exciting event will be an AGM with a twist and will take a closer look at how we help people across Norfolk and Suffolk achieve mental wellbeing.”

The wellbeing event will take place on 31 October 2012 from 1pm to 7pm at University Campus Suffolk in Ipswich, and The Forum in Norwich. It will focus on the five steps to mental wellbeing: connect, be active, keep learning, give to others and take notice.
