LOCAL THEATRE COMPANY BRINGS FESTIVE CHEER

WITH ‘A CHRISTMAS CAROL’ WEB SERIES

A local theatre company based in Norwich, Amplify Theatre and Film, has created a new comedy web series to bring some much needed festive cheer to the people of Norfolk.

While the lockdown may be over, the Christmas season this year is still far from normal with many festive events cancelled. Which is why Amplify has created a new web series that people can watch from the comfort of their own home.

Amplify Presents: A Christmas Carol consists of four episodes released weekly on YouTube, with the first episode out now. The series follows a group of out of work actors as they try to create a film of the Christmas classic from the confines of their own homes. What could possibly go wrong? Filmed virtually and in isolation, this comedy mini-series brings the messages of A Christmas Carol into the modern world, just as they are needed most.

Amplify Artistic Director Izzy Cutler said: “We wanted to make something fun to cheer people up this holiday season. It’s been a really rough year, and something like this that will hopefully put smiles on faces, and that people can watch safely from home, is the perfect project for us to round 2020 off with.”

Will Norris, Head of Film at Amplify and the Writer of the web series adds: “We took inspiration from Staged, the series with David Tennant and Michael Sheen that was created during the first lockdown. As we went into lockdown number two, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to do our own spin on it, with a festive twist of course. As the series goes on it only gets more ridiculous and funny, so we really hope people love it and keep watching each week as we release new episodes.”

Episode two arrives at 6pm on Tuesday 8 December, with the first episode available to watch now on YouTube:
