Lowestoft Porcelain Auctions in Lowestoft set to be revived

An annual auction of Lowestoft Porcelain is set to be revived in response to requests from collectors after the previous auctioneer retired in 2013.

Sally Rivett will be running an auction specialising in 18th century Lowestoft Porcelain

at the Hotel Victoria on 29th October 2014

with viewing from 2.00pm and the auction commencing at 7.00pm

conducted by  guest auctioneer for the evening Elizabeth Talbot of TW Gaze, Diss.

Elizabeth is well known from BBC television where she regularly appears as expert on antiques programmes including “Flog it”, “Bargain Hunt” and “Antiques Road Trip”.

Lowestoft Porcelain Trifle Mugs

Lowestoft Porcelain inscribed A Trifle From Lowestoft was made in the 1790’s as gift’s from Lowestoft being the first seaside souvenirs. Usually they are decorated in over glaze enamels as the middle mug, examples in blue and white are much rarer.

The blue and white example shown here was in the Mrs Colman collection and the Godden Reference collection.

The Robert Howes mug is one of many inscribed pieces made by the factory between 1762 and the close of the factory in 1799.
