Mendlesham’s Best” – Diamond Jubilee Edition 2012
Mendlesham’s wonderful historic parish church is dedicated to St Mary the Virgin, and we are again celebrating our patron saint’s Assumption with a festival of Fireworks on Friday 17th, a glorious Concert of Brass Music on Saturday 18th and a fun Jazz band on Sunday 19th August, to provide enjoyment for all the family and raise money for our Church Restoration programme. Refreshments will be available including our own label Beer brewed to mark HM Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee. At the heart of our celebrations will be worship.

Everyone is most welcome to any or all of these events.

Friday 17th August 7.30pm: Sung Mass of the Assumption; address by the Right Reverend Norman Banks, Bishop of Richborough  9.15 pm:(approx) Grand Firework Display set to music. Admission Free – Donations to Church Restoration Fund appreciated

Saturday 18th August, 5.00 pm: First Mass of Sunday (said)
7.30 pm Concert by the Seckford Ensemble
A quintet of some of the finest Brass players in East Anglia, featuring John Jermy (trumpets), Ian Abbott (trumpet), Kay Dawson (horn), Neil George (trombone) and Geoff Webb (tuba). The Seckford Brass Ensemble’s careers began in schools and colleges in Ipswich and Essex and are now some of the finest and most versatile professional brass players and teachers in East Anglia. Known for musical fun and a great rapport with their audiences, especially young people, you can be sure of a musical event you will remember for a long time to come.

Sunday 19th August 9.30 am: Parish Mass
1.30 – 4.00 pm: In the South churchyard – if wet, in church.
Jazz with the Brandeston Pickles. 
By popular demand, the Brandeston Pickles return to lead an enjoyable laid-back 1920s/30s-style afternoon with Jazz, a Beer Tent (selling our own ‘Real Ale’ – Mendlesham’s Best – Diamond Jubilee Edition 2012) – & home-made teas. Bring along chairs/rugs.

Our Own Label Beer 
Following the last two years’ success, there will be a new limited edition brew of real ale: ‘’Mendlesham’s Best” – Diamond Jubilee Edition 2012 to be sold at the Summer Festival in aid of St Mary’s Church Restoration Fund. Once again the Earl Soham Brewery (famous for its Victoria and Albert Ales) will be brewing for us using locally sourced ingredients.
