The Mid-Norfolk Railway proudly presents…..

“STRATFORD WEEKEND”

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th February 2013

The MNR is “home” to diesel locomotives 31235, 37003, 47579, 47580 and 47596 which were based at the [now closed] Stratford Depot (30A); all 5 will be “diagrammed” to run.

Stratford was a major traincrew depot, serving the Eastern Region, especially the Great Eastern Mainline between Norwich and Liverpool Street. It closed in 1991. Today many of its Drivers and Guards still work for the Railway.

The MNR is connected to the other route to Norwich from Liverpool Street, via Ely. MNR lies close to Norwich, making it the ideal location to mark the 22 years since the closure of Stratford Depot.

MNR’s Event Fares apply. Adult Return £10, Senior £9, Family £26, Day Rover £20, Member Day Rover £15, 2 day Rover £30. Children at half full adult fares. Discount cards will not apply.

The Olympic Park and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link now occupy the site of Stratford Depot which was built in 1840, in the East End of London. It was well known as a Steam and [latterly] Diesel shed and also its attention to detail in the maintenance and overhaul of locomotives; also breaking from the traditional livery applications, to add things like silver roofs, to plain blue locomotives.
